This series is fucking incredible. Undoubtedly the best graphic novel series I've ever read. It just gets deeper and twister and more political with each volume, and I can feel the end times closing in. Each volume draws us closer and closer to the apocalypse and humankind is doing absolutely nothing to prevent it. (bit like nowadays, I guess)
Even though Death himself is hardly present in this volume, I almost didn't notice the absence of my favourite character until about halfway through. The dreadful leaders of the various independent nations, as they scheme against each other, or form precarious alliances, are really beginning to carry the weight of this enormous, intricate story. That being said, I really want to see more Death in the next volume. We're teased with his presence at the end of volume 5, and then it's over. I need more Death!
As always, the artwork is stunning and the consistent colour pallet throughout the entire series really pulls it all together. From the writing to the art itself, everything in this series is a class act, and I can't recommend it enough.
